All-Merciful Saviour Monastery (Vashon Island, Washington)
All-Merciful Savior Monastery is blessed by God as the only male monastery in Washington state. It was established in 1986 by Archimandrite Dmitri of blessed memory in California. In 1988, under the God-protected leadership of Hieromonk Tryphon, the Monastery moved to Vashon Island, Washington.
In 1997, Islanders Georgia and John Ratzenberger ("Cliff" from the US television series "Cheers") donated land to the Monastery. In 1999, to protect the solitude of the Monastery, the benefactors of the Monastery enabled the Brotherhood to purchase an adjacent piece of land and save it from development. Along with the 40 acre watershed, the Monastery is quietly secluded in the forests of Maury Island.
At the 2008 Monastery pilgrimage, over 100 faithful and clergy from eight Seattle-area parishes joined together to celebrate the Monastery feastday of the All-Merciful Savior.
How to Support the Brotherhood
The Monastic community sells "Monastery Blend Coffee" and "Monastery Tea" for year-round enjoyment. All products are fair trade. They are available in select Seattle area stores as well as online.
