Father Alexander Veronis is a retired priest of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, under the jurisdiction of the Church of Constantinople. Proistamenos of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Lancaster, Pennsylvania for forty-three years, he was instrumental in the founding of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center in St. Augustine, Florida.

Life

Father Alexander grew up and was educated in the United States of America. His collegiate education included a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English in 1954 from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1958 from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, a S.T.M. in Pastoral Psychology in 1959 from Boston University School of Theology, and a Licentiate in Orthodox Theology in 1961 from University of Athens. In addition, he undertook Missiological and Biblical Studies in 1966 and 1975 at Lancaster Theological Seminary and received a Doctor of Divinity Honorary Degree in 1993 from Lebanon Valley College.

Father Alexander married Presbytera Pearl Veronis, his faithful partner and co-worker in their joint parish ministry. They have five children and fourteen grandchildren. One son is also an Orthodox priest, who served as a missionary in Africa and Albania and taught missiology at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston, Massachusetts.

During his career as the parish priest at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Fr, Alexander participated actively in dialogues and ecumenical outreach activities in the Lancaster area as well as within the Greek Archdiocese. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center and, in 1988, participated in a missionary team that built a seven room medical clinic in the village of Chavogere in Western Kenya.
