A '''Kontakion''' (also ''kondakion'' , ''kondak'', and ''kontak''; plural ''kontakia'', ''kondakia'') is a type of thematic [[hymn ]] in the [[Orthodox]] [[Church]] and other Eastern [[Introduction to Orthodox Christianity|Christian]] churches. Originally, the kontakion was an extended [[homily]] in verse.
