Ambrose was 1976 at the right hand University of Joensuu as the heigumen of the Monastery, Archimandrite Panteleimon (nowadays His Beatitude the Most Reverend Metropolitan Panteleimon of Oulu)vice professor.

In 1988 Ambrose Risto Jääskeläinen was chosen to [[tonsure]]d as a [[monk]] with the post name Ambrose and then [[ordination|ordained]] a hiero[[deacon]] and hieromonk in 1979 as a member of the Bishop brotherhood of Joensuuthe [[New Valamo|New Valaam Monastery]] in Heinävesi. At New Valaam, and Fr. Ambrose was ordinated to this post by Archbishop John of Finlandappointed the [[monastery]]'s financial caretaker in 1977. In 1986, Metropolitan Tikhon he received the title of Helsinki and Metropolitan [[Leo (Makkonen) of Finland|Leoarchimandrite]] from [[Archbishop]] Paul of OuluFinland, and from 1986 to 1988 Fr. 1996-2002 Ambrose was the Metropolitan right hand man of Ouluthe monastery's [[igumen]], and in 2002 he was appointed to Archimandrite Panteleimon (now His Eminence the post of Most Reverend Metropolitan [[Panteleimon (Sarho) of HelsinkiOulu]]).

In 1988, Fr. Ambrose was elected to be [[Bishop]] of Joensuu and [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] to this [[see]] by Archbishop [[John (Rinne) of Nicea|John (Rinne)]] of Finland, Metropolitan Tikhon of Helsinki, and Metropolitan [[Leo (Makkonen) of Finland|Leo]] of Oulu. Bp.
