notice of closing
St. Theodore House is was a monastic skete located in Galion, Ohio. It is was a small community for men in the Diocese of Pittsburgh of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and under the authority of Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh and the heavenly patronage of St. Theodore the Studite. The skete closed on October 31, 2012.
History
As is the case of many sketes, the community does not have as extensive a cycle of services as many full monasteries, which allows for a greater flexibility which is needed for the pastoral work done by the monastics of St. Theodore House. This pattern of life is found in many monastic communites in Greece, particularly the "missionary monastics" of St. Michael of Tharri community on Rhodes and in the life of St. Theodore himself.
==External Link==* On a notice dated September 22, 2012, the monastery website [ St. Theodore House] advised that the monastery would close on October 31, 2012 as a consequence of the financial collapse of the Brotherhood resulting from the arrest of their former Superior, Archimandrite Nicholas (Monastery websitePatrick)Hughes, on charges of soliciting sexual contact with minors.
