The holy, right-believing '''Pulcheria the Empress''' was the daughter of Arcadius, the Emperor of the Eastern part of the Roman empire, and his wife Aelia Eudoxia. As regent for her younger brother Theodosius II and empress in her own name, she strongly influenced the direction of the government in its relations with Christianity, especially during the Nestorian controversies in the fifth century. She has been recognized as a [[saint]]. Her feast day is [[September 10]].
