Athanasios Lenis was born in 1938. Upon his entering the [[Holy Orders]] Athanasios was given the name Ambrose. He served as [[dean]] of the religious office of the Greek police and as chief secretary of the [[Holy Synod]] before his election in 1976 to the [[episcopate]] as a titular [[bishop]]. In August 1989, Metr. Ambrose initiated the establishment of the Kallimanoupouleio Ecclesiastical Ministry Center (KEDIK) in Kalavryta to provide for the special needs of elderly and chronically-ill. In 2000, Metr. Ambrose also initiated the establishment of the Kalavryta department of the School of Byzantine Music in the town of Aigio at the Service Center of the Kallimanopouleio Institute.
