His Grace Bishop '''Barnabas (Safronov) of Pavlodar and
Ust-Kamenogorsk''' is the ruling [[bishop]] of the [[Eparchy of Pavlodar]], which is one of the constituent [[diocese|dioceses]] of the [[Russian Orthodox Church|Russian Orthodox Church's]] [[Metropolia of Kazakhstan]].
Bishop Barnabas was born Vasiliy Alekseyevich Safronov on [[February 21]], 1957 in Uryupinsk, USSR. In 1975, Vasiliy entered the Armed Forces the USSR for two years, then entered the [[Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary|Moscow Theological Seminary]] three years later in 1978. During his studies he was [[tonsure]]d a [[monk]] at the [[Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra|Lavra of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius]] in Sergiev Posad with the name Barnabas. Immediately after completing his studies at the Seminary in 1981 Vasiliy entered the [[Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary|Moscow Theological Academy]], completing his studies there in 1985.
During his studies Fr. Barnabas was [[ordination|ordained]] first to the [[deacon]]ate and then to the [[priest]]hood. In 1987 he was elevated to the rank of [[igumen]] and in 1990 to the rank of [[archimandrite]]. On [[October 6]], 2010 the [[Holy Synod]] of the Russian Orthodox Church elected Fr. Barnabas Bishop of Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk. His [[consecration of a bishop|consecration]] to the episcopacy took place on [[November 14]], 2010 in Moscow's [[Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (Moscow)|Cathedral of Christ the Savior]] and was celebrated by Patriarch [[Kyrill I (Gundyayev) of Moscow|Cyril of Moscow and All Rus']].
