Uspenski Cathedral (Helsinki)
The Uspenski Cathedral (fi: Uspenskin katedraali) is an Orthodox cathedral in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Built from 1862-1868 by the architect Aleksei Gornostayev, the Uspenski Cathedral is set upon a hillside on the Katajanokka Peninsula overlooking the city. On the back of the cathedral is a plaque commemorating Tsar Alexander II of Russia, ruler of Finland during its construction. The Uspenski Cathedral is the main church of the Diocese of Helsinki.
