==Names of Bishops in the Church==
 +
Hi Magda, I really appreciate what you do ...you do a lot of awesome editing but I really have to disagree with 1 change you are making to the 'Metropolis of XXX' articles that I have created over the past few days. This issue I have is over-riding the link I set up for the Bishops. I have noticed that you include the Metropolis area as a title to their name Eg. His Emincence [[John (Black) of Area A and B]]. I dont agree with including the 'of Area A and B' part because that title could change with time. They may become a Metropolitan to another area perhaps and then the title would no longer be relevant. I think it suffices to just use their name with Surname in the brackets ..leaving the title out of it? What do you think? Is their something I dont know that I should know for the reason to include the title? -- [[User:Ixthis888|Vasiliki]] 14:00, February 21, 2008 (PST)

Hello Magda, I would like to bring to your attention problem with the article [[John (Zizioulas) of Pergamon]] where one of the users keep removing valid academic source to the criticism of the J.Z., not providing any valid academic reason for removal, but rather expressing his own opinion on the matter. Since I know that user from Wikipedia and have experienced his disgraceful behavior there, I am asking for help before situation ends up in the formal request for mediation (just as happened there). Hmm, you're right about the spelling of Sepulchre. That was bothering me throughout, but I didn't want to change the title of the article. Do you think it should be Americanized?

== Triodion Stuff ==
+
As for what I did changed, there were a number of verbs in the history section of the article in the present tense (that were about past events). So that's what I meant by present to past tense in history. I stopped after the history section (except for changing annointed to anointed in the next paragraph), so that's why you don't see changes throughout. Oh, and I also messed with what I thought was awkward wording once or twice. Please change anything you think needs undoing.
Hello [[User:Magda|Magda]]!  The characterization of the week after the Publican and Pharisee as "the first week of the Triodion" is certainly correct and commonly heard.  In your comments on my user talk page, I think (a) and (b) are spot on. I've never heard the pre-Lenten weeks of preparation referred to as the "Triodion". I've only ever heard them referred to as the pre-Lenten weeks of preparation or, in short-hand, pre-Lent.[[User:Dcndavid|DcnDavid]] 09:29, 23 Feb 2005 (CST)

Thanks for the kind words about my editing. I really need to start getting back on more. Honestly, I just don't have the free time that I did in college. I noticed that you were making links for the various saint titles (e.g., Righteous, God-bearing, Venerable, etc.).  Do you think we really need separate articles for each of these titles?  [[Saint commemorations]] already covers some of this sort of thing, no?  --[[User:ASDamick|Rdr. '''Follow-up:'''  How about if we create a single article called [[Saint titles]] to which these various titles can have redirect links?  I do think it would be useful to have an article which explains them.

Regarding the style for the [[Church Calendar]] commemorations:  I think it would get cumbersome to use the full versions found in [[Saint commemorations]].  There seems to be a terser style characteristic of synaxaria and menaia.  I don't think we intend for there to be a single menaion that we're using here, but rather a sort of combined menaion with differences noted in parentheses where the custom varies.  The one I've been using happens to be the one found in the back of the Antiochian ''Liturgikon'', though I've added in a few extras here and there.  --[[User:ASDamick|Rdr. Hi, Magda.  I don't think it's necessary to have a disambiguation page except for saints with extremely common names (e.g., John, Basil, etc.), and then just make a page with a name like this [[Basil (disambiguation)]].  I don't think there's a need to link all the individual sainted Basils (or whomever) back to the disambiguation page.  I do think it would be best to have disambiguation pages include "(disambiguation)" in the article name, though.  There are some people where you wouldn't want to have the bare name article be a disambig. page, such as [[Jesus]] (though one theoretically could, since we have people like Jesus of Navi, i.e., the Prophet Joshua).

I agree that it is hard to figure out what to call article names sometimesIdeally, you'd use whatever you might see on an icon, but of course we probably don't have icons sitting in front of us for a lot of these folksI'd advise you to do the best you can, and then where you discover potential conflicts, find some way of sorting them out for each situation. --[[User:ASDamick|Rdr. Hi Magda,
+
Hi, I have modified three articles (on purpose) on a temporary basis, only so that I can demonstrate an idea ... I wanted to point out that I will revert the articles back once I have had a response I suppose from at least your or one of the Fathers or some of the other admins as to what you think ... the three "pilot" articles are:

Well, something like that. I think what you've got is a decent first rought attempt. There are standard sizes for link banners, as well as for simple small-size buttons. There's lots of sites that talk abotu this - [http://www.1second.com/bannerinfo.htm here's one I came across in a quick search] - one standard size, e.g., is 486 x 60. I'm also thinking of smaller buttons, like many blogs have - see e.g. the very bottom of [http://raphael.doxos.com raphael.doxos.com]. Thanks1 [[User:FrJohn|Fr. John]]

------------

That's good Magda, I like that one - please do link to it or post a link for it on a link buttons page. About the image - it's pretty generic... I stole it off the web from somewhere, but it's a very common Orthodox symbol, so I don't imagine copyright would apply. [[User:FrJohn|Fr. John]]

== Image question ==

I'm not really clear on what you're asking.  Do you want to be able to make an image smaller without having a caption below it but still having an "alternate text" show up when the mouse hovers over it?  What do you want to be different in the [[Isidore of Chios]] example?  --[[User:ASDamick|{{User:ASDamick/sig}}]] 12:42, 14 May 2005 (CDT)
+

: I just added a size specification to the [[Isidore of Chios]] page, and it not only obeyed my size stipulation but also shows the caption. Is that what you want?  --[[User:ASDamick|{{User:ASDamick/sig}}]] 06:53, 15 May 2005 (CDT)

I am definately keen to get a discussion going linking Owiki and Osource ... I am having a lot of fun doing the programming in Osource but I dont want to move forward until some people start putting in some feedback. [[User:Ixthis888|Vasiliki]] 00:39, June 24, 2008 (UTC)

: The only part that seems to be affected by order is that the last element becomes the caption or alt-text (i.e., what gets shown when you float your mouse over the pic).

: I think the element that's causing your headache may well be the <nowiki><div style=...></nowiki> portion of the template.  I don't know how the voodoo for that works, though.  Something about it doesn't want a frame/thumb around the pic.  Are you trying to get the caption to appear below the images in the date templates?  (If so, why?)  --[[User:ASDamick|{{User:ASDamick/sig}}]] 16:48, 17 May 2005 (CDT)

Names of Bishops in the Church

Hi Magda, I really appreciate what you do ...you do a lot of awesome editing but I really have to disagree with 1 change you are making to the 'Metropolis of XXX' articles that I have created over the past few days. This issue I have is over-riding the link I set up for the Bishops. I have noticed that you include the Metropolis area as a title to their name Eg. His Emincence John (Black) of Area A and B. -- Vasiliki 14:00, February 21, 2008 (PST)

Holy Sepulchre

Hmm, you're right about the spelling of Sepulchre. That was bothering me throughout, but I didn't want to change the title of the article. Do you think it should be Americanized?

As for what I did changed, there were a number of verbs in the history section of the article in the present tense (that were about past events). So that's what I meant by present to past tense in history. I stopped after the history section (except for changing annointed to anointed in the next paragraph), so that's why you don't see changes throughout. Oh, and I also messed with what I thought was awkward wording once or twice. Please change anything you think needs undoing.

Thanks for the kind words about my editing. I really need to start getting back on more. Honestly, I just don't have the free time that I did in college. Plus, my job requires me to sit in front of a computer 8 hours a day, so when I get home I sometimes just want to get away from these machines! Gabriela 19:01, March 22, 2008 (PDT)

French links

Thanks for filling in all the French links, Magda! — FrJohn (talk) 06:38, April 10, 2008 (UTC)

I also wanted to give credit to Magda on the External Links; I have noticed her over last fortnight adding and adding links and its a very difficult task and I have to say she is doing a really timely and thorough job! Vasiliki 23:34, April 16, 2008 (UTC)

New England Diocese

Thanks, Magda, for catching the century 'date'. Also, you came up with the date for Abp Dmitiri that I've been trying to find for some time. Now the dates in his article need correcting!! Wsk 23:17, April 30, 2008 (UTC)

I can't seem to restore that article, either. I'm gonna axe it, since it doesn't really belong here, anyhow. —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 00:19, June 12, 2008 (UTC)

OrthodoxSource

Hi, I was hoping to recruit you into OrthodoxSource - are you interested in coming in and discussing over there? -- Vasiliki

Hi, thanks for referring Template:OSource, can you explain for me .... should I be using this template to mark articles in OW that should be migrated into OSource? Vasiliki 23:05, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

External links ---

Hi, I have modified three articles (on purpose) on a temporary basis, only so that I can demonstrate an idea ... I wanted to point out that I will revert the articles back once I have had a response I suppose from at least your or one of the Fathers or some of the other admins as to what you think ... the three "pilot" articles are:

Athanasius of Alexandria
Alexander Schmemann
John of Damascus

I am definately keen to get a discussion going linking Owiki and Osource ... I am having a lot of fun doing the programming in Osource but I dont want to move forward until some people start putting in some feedback. Vasiliki 00:39, June 24, 2008 (UTC)

St. Donald

Hello, Matushka - thank you for the extra links, concerning St. Donald of Ogilvy and his holy Nine Maidens! Seeing as how you have found much about the Nine Maidens, I feel it is only proper to do an article about them, now that you have pointed me in the right direction. Thank you again!

Can I copy a Wikipedia article over here?

Hi,

I've been working on Orthodox-related articles over at Wikipedia. For example, I've been working on the East-West Schism article. There is no such article here. Can I just copy the text from Wikipedia over here wholesale? What are the relevant copyright rules?

Quotes from St. John Chrisostom

Hi Magda,

I noticed in the sex article in your rewrite in March 2008 some quotes from SJC made there way in that I'm having trouble verifying. Could you look at my comment in the discussion and see if you have an answer? I'd greatly appreciate the help, thanks!
