Dusan Maletic born in 1963 in Belgrade, Serbia. Under Communist rule it was not regular practice to baptize children so my older sister and cousins were not yet baptized at the time. However, I got very sick just after the birth and was literally sent home from hospital without any further medication, expected to die shortly after from lung collapse. Under care of my parents and only remaining resource of prayer I miraculously recovered 3 months later. Taking that as a sign, my parents and their brothers and sisters arranged for my baptism together with all other young un-baptized children in the family on the St. Jovan (St. John the Forerunner) holiday in 1964. When grown up, I also always remember this Grace of God upon me giving thanks and trying to do my best.
I am scientist by profession. My non-professional interests are closely related to visual arts. Hence I am hoping to contribute to Orthodox Wiki mostly related to the subject I know the best in this area: Serbian iconography. Good part of that knowledge was imparted by my father, Mihailo Maletic (1924-1990) who did a lot of ethnographic research specifically related to the Serbian Orthodox Church and its Monasteries.
