Anyone else notice that the last few sections of this article are taken directly from the Hopko link it lists? ([1]). We don't have rights to material from the OCA website, do we? Gabriela 21:04, May 26, 2007 (PDT)

We sure don't. —Fr. Andrew talk contribs 12:18, May 27, 2007 (PDT)
Hmm, perhaps it's best that someone (probably myself, if no one else volunteers) reword it, then. Plus I think the mixed marriages section is misleading, because it doesn't include the qualifier that inter-Christian marriages are allowed with certain provisions. At least in the jurisdictions I'm familiar with, which isn't too many. So, one more question: Would it be incorrect to categorically state that such is the Orthodox practice, or is it different in the old countries? Gabriela 20:38, May 27, 2007 (PDT)

Marriage with other Christians

I'm not clear that the newest revision by Fr David is accurate. He writes that a marriage between an Orthodox Christian and a non-Orthodox Christian must take place in the Orthodox Church. However, in looking at the [interfaith marriage page http://www.interfaith.goarch.org/interreligiousmarriageoc.asp] on the Greek Archdiocese's website, I find: "Conversely, the Orthodox Church continues to hold to a more jaundiced view of interreligious marriage. It believes that the differences between both partners’ belief systems preclude individual, couple and family religious and spiritual development. As a result, it continues to discourage its faithful from entering interreligious marriages. Orthodox Christians who decide to enter an interreligious marriage (a) will be unable to wed in the Orthodox Church, and (b) lose their sacramental privileges."

I wouldn't be surprised to find that the rules vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. --Fr Lev 14:25, October 16, 2008 (UTC)
