With the addition of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand article about the preceding structure, I would like - with permission - to add the following to the start of the History section:
+

+
: :For more detailed history before 1974, See Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand.
+
: Before 1908 New Zealand, along with the rest of the 'diaspora', was under the omophorion of the Church of Jerusalem; but, in 1908, jurisdiction over New Zealand was transferred to the newly-recognised Church of Greece. In 1924, the parishes of Australia and New Zealand - by now, Greek in character as well as in name - were formed into a metropolis under the Church of Constantinople. In 1959, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Australia and New Zealand was elevated to Archdiocese, and Metropolitan Ezekiel elevated to Archbishop with it. In 1970, due to the growing size and needs of the Archdiocese, Australia and New Zealand were split into the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia under Archbishop Ezekiel, and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Zealand under Metropolitan Dionysios.
+
: In 2003, Dionysios was promoted to the Metropolis of Proussa... (as is current)

Also, I think the protection of this article should, in light of the time passed, be reconsidered. — edited by Pιsτévο at 05:45, June 15, 2006 (CDT)

Exarchate

A cautionary note - please do not change the title or responsibilities of/on this article to either 'Archdiocese' or 'Exarchate of Oceania'. The only reference for this is on the website of the Metropolis itself, and is not justified by any links to the website, nor by the most recent yearbook published by Ecumenical Patriarchate jurisdictions.

(References: GOA America produces an online version of the yearbook: see link, p.63 for New Zealand's entry, confirming it is a "Metropolitanate" (sic), and p.62 for Australia, confirming that Abp Stylianos is exarch of "Oceana" (sic)). — edited by sτévο at 02:34, June 8, 2006 (CDT)

If we can confirm that this does indeed represent a dispute between the NZ Metropolis/Archdiocese/Exarchate and the patriarchate (and not just a matter of publications being out of date), perhaps we could address this in the article itself. —Dcn. One would expect that a change that significant (and a metropolis of seven churches being made an archdiocese, without the customary title change for its head, would certainly be historically significant) would be, at least, proclaimed on the official website. I haven't seen any official reaction to a change thus far. — edited by sτévο at 05:19, June 15, 2006 (CDT)
Having just reviewed the Ecumenical Patriarch's site in Greek, I have found that Ἀ
