The office of chorepiscopos is extant still in the Syrian tradition, both Orthodox and Catholic. One need only to look at various church websites to find clergy with the title. I know that it is used by the Syrian Orthodox Church and by Rome's Syro-Malankara Church. There are alternate spellings, of course, such as "corepiscopa." --[[User:Fr Lev|Fr Lev]] 15:17, July 2, 2008 (UTC)

At least in some Syrian churches, only a chorepiscopos can chrismate, i.e., a presbyter may not. --[[User:Fr Lev|Fr Lev]] 15:17, July 2, 2008 (UTC)

The rank still exists in the Orthodox Church of Romania. It is a bit obtuse to say it is extinct in the Orthodox Church, even if it is extinct in the Roman Catholic Church. Chrisg 01:45, July 2, 2008 (UTC)
