::Thank you. I changed "excommunication" to "defrocking" and gave the reference, as per your instruction. Hope it's ok. I added some more detailed info and references. Not sure it's written in very good English, though. [[User:Kamasarye|Iuliana ]] 01:54, February 23, 2012 (HST)

Fr. Trifa's sanction

I have been working on the Romanian version of this article. But I haven't found in any source the idea that Fr. Trifa had been excommunicated. I left the info in its place in the article here, for the moment, as I don't have an English-language source to support my argument.

But: the 1937 decision of the Metropolitan Synod in Transylvania, as I understand from the Romanian-language sources, had been to defrock rather than excommunicate Fr. Trifa. I haven't had access to the 1937 decision, but I did read the 1990 decision of the Holy Synod, by which his defrocking is lifted, and the association granted recognition. Also, from what I've been reading on the official site of the (institutionnalised) Army of the Lord, Fr. Trifa did have an Orthodox funeral, but a layman's funeral rather than a priest's. So I would propose to change "excommunicated" to "defrocked" (or is there a more adequate term in English?), as it did make a lot of difference for the movement itself. Thank you.
