A shrine, (from Latin: scrinium "case or chest for books or papers"; Old French: escrin "box or case"), in the Orthodox Christian context is a holy or sacred place that is given special devotion by the faithful. The object of the devotion must have some representation that bestows honor and dedication to the Orthodox Christian Trinity.
