Seraphim of Livadeia

Saint Seraphim of Lebadeia, (b.1520- May 6,1602) was an ascetic from the area of Mount Dombos of Lebadeia in Greece who is commemorated by the church May 6.

Life

St Seraphim is unknown to the church Synaxaristes but is documented in a service in Aigina in 1828, conducted by Bishop Talantios Neophytos Metaxas, that was later published in Athens in 1855 and revised in 1885.

He had a calling to the monastic life from a young age and left the world to pursue asceticism at Prophet Elias at the mount of Karkara. At this location he built a chapel dedicated to the Saviour and spent his time in ascetism. However, he was visited frequently by his family and friends so he left his cave and went to a monastery dedicated to the Holy Unmercenaries Anargyroi.

Others also fled from there and went to the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior, where the term Sagmatio between Thebes and Evia. 'There elampse spiritual as the first magnitude star and made him abbot monk with the name Seraphim, and later the ministry and senior ordainment. But to avoid the reputation of virtues, with the permission of the abbot, that he left the monastery and went west of the site Helicon Domos. There he built the temple in the name of Christ, and some cells, get some monks, which remained there for 10 years, by virtue projects and teaching students of the salutary lessons of the unique life of the Gospel. This hermit state once lived and died peacefully after notice-of-death on 6 May 1602 Mesopentikostis the day. He lived all 75 years. It is said that he made several miracles.
