The holy Monastery of Kechrovouniou is situated on the island of Tinos, near the village of Steni, Greece. It is very close to the Monastery of St. Anthony and is dedicated to the Koimisis tis Theotokos (the Assumption).

History

According to tradition, three sisters shared the same dream which was to construct this monastery; so the monastery was founded sometime in the 10th or 11th century. In 1822, St. Pelagia of Tinos (July 23) had a dream of a place where a Panagia Evangelistria type icon was found, now known as the Panagia of Tinos.
