Fr John Shehadie was a priest of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand, and All Oceania and one of two son of Exarch Nicholas Shehadie to be ordained priest.

In 1973, Bp Gibran requested that a new church be built in the western suburbs of Sydney. One was built in Punchbowl, a suburb often called 'little Lebanon', just as Redfern used to be called 'little Syria'.

Fr John Shehadie was appointed priest of the new church of St Nicholas, Punchbowl, and served there until his retirement in 1987.

Yohanna is the English transliteration of the Arabic name. The equivalent name in English is John. Yohanna is often shortened to Hanna.

Among the Arabic-speaking community Fr John was known as Fr Hanna.
