Fr John Shehadie was a priest of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand, and All Oceania and the son of Exarch Nicholas Shehadie.

In 1973, Bp Gibran requested that a new church be built on the other side of Sydney. Fr John Shehadie was appointed priest of the new church of St Nicholas, Punchbowl, and served there until his retirement in 1987.

Yohanna is the Arabic equivalent for the English John; Yohanna is often shortened to Hanna. Among the Arabic-speaking community Fr John was known as Fr Hanna.
