He was following in steps of his great predecessors. He was raised to [[Patriarch]] and Archbishop of Peć on [[Palm Sunday]], [[April 6]], 1346. This was in order for Joanikije to coronate King Stefan Uroš IV Dušan as Car (Emperor). This elevation was done with approval  Patriarch of Trnovo and Archbishop of Ohrid and comunity of Mount Athos. Our Father among saints Joanikije II of Pec(Also Joanicius. In Serbian: Свети Јонакије патријарх српски) was first Serbian Patriarch. His Feast is September 3/16.
