Archbishop Eugene (Архиепископ Евгений, secular name Valery Germanovich Reshetnikov, Валерий Германович Решетников) is bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, archbishop of Vereya, vicar of Moscow eparchy, rector of Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary.

Biography

Born on October 9, 1957 in Kazakhstan. He spent adolescent and adolescent years in Kirov. After completing eight year high school he studied at the Kirov building college. In 1977-1979 he served in the Soviet Army. After demobilization, he worked in Vyatka diocesan administration, while acting as subdeacon of Bishop Chrysanthos (Chepil).

In 1983, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary in 1987, with Candidate of theology degree, after defending his thesis "The Pastorhood in the Russian Church in X-XIII centuries" («Пастырство в Русской Церкви в X-XIII веках»).
