Little is known of the life of Abp. Cosmas. He was appointed abbot of Kyrillo-Belozersky Monastery in Novgorod Russia on September 2, 1572. On October 29, 1581, he was consecrated Archbishop of Kazan. He apparently remained at Kazan for only a short time as he died at Kyrillo-Belozersky Monastery in 1583.
