His Eminence Chrysostomos (Sabbatos) of Messenia (Greek: Χρυσόστομος Σαββάτος) is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Messenia under the [[jurisdiction of the Church of Greece.

Life

Born Christodoulos Sabbatos in the Athens suburb of Peristeri in 1961, Christodoulos entered into a career in the Orthodox Church and received the ecclesiastical name of Chrysostomos. His education includes degrees from schools in Rome and Strasbourg. He is a professor and theologian with the Theology Faculty of the University of Athens. He also holds membership in the Orthodox-Roman Catholic Dialogue Commission.

On March 15, 2007, Fr, Chrysostomos was elected Metropolitan of Messenia[1]. He has continued his university obligations after his consecration as metropolitan.
