Father Benedikt, born Bengt Pohjanen, is an Orthodox priest of the Patriarchal Exarchate for Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition in Western Europe. He was born in 1944 in Pajala, northern Sweden. He was ordained a priest in December 2004 by His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Komana. Fr. Benedikt is trilingual and speaks Swedish, Finnish, and Meänkieli. He is a Swedish author and a member of the Swedish Writers Union since 1981.

Fr . Benedikt and his wife, iconographer Matushka Monika, have built an Orthodox Church in Överkalix, Sweden. The parish in Överkalix is multicultural and the Liturgy is also celebrated in Slavonic.
