The holy, glorious, all-laudable Apostle Ananias is numbered among the Seventy Apostles. He was bishop in Damascus and baptized the Apostle Paul. Because of his fearless preaching he was stoned to death in the city of Eleutheropolis. His relics were returned to Damascus, then later translated to Constantinople. The Church remembers St. Ananias on October 1. Scriptural references: Acts 9:10-17.
