He was born July 5, 1916, in Divoš in Srem. He was born as Janko (Јанко). He graduated High School in Novi Sad 1935, and Orhodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade 1939. He was tonsured July 11/24, 1940. He is ordained deacon tomorow and priest March 3/16 1941. In 1952, he obtained his doctorate from Tеology in Belgrade. He was the last theology student who received his doctorate from Belgrade University before 2004, the Orthodox Theological Faculty having been removed from university from 1952 until its restoration in 2004. He was professor at Orthodox Theological Faculty from 1952 to 1961.
