Fr. Pavlos Koumarianos was born and raised in Athens. He studied Theology at the University of Athens. He completed his Master's studies and composed a Doctoral Thesis - with the grade "Excellent" - at the Pontifical Institute of Oriental Studies in Rome, (Orientale), where he specialized in the History and Theology of the Worship of the Eastern Churches. He then emigrated to Canada, where he completed Postdoctoral Research at St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto. He initially taught in Secondary Education in Greece, at the American College of Athens in Psychiko. After the successful completion of his Doctoral Dissertation and his immigration to Canada, he taught at Universities in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, as well as at the Greek Orthodox Theological Academy of the Archdiocese of Toronto. He was elected Assistant Professor at the Theological School of the Holy Cross in Boston, where he taught for one year, since health reasons forced him to return to Greece. He is a member of the International Society for the Study of Oriental Liturgy, (SOL), whose leader was the internationally renowned liturgist, Robert Taft. He has published dozens of articles in Greek and foreign magazines and has participated as a lecturer in many liturgical conferences in Greece and abroad. He is a married Clergyman, father of 6 children and as a Priest he served in Orthodox communities in Greece, Italy, Canada, and the USA. In the summer of 2022, he was elected Assistant Professor of the University Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens, where he serves until today.
