My name is D Stall, and I live (semi-eremitical) on my family's 50 acres of mostly wooded land in southeast Central Texas. From there, I freelance as a webdesigner/developer, and design and maintain the website of The Orthodox Fellowship of the Transfiguration, among others. Previously, I worked as a registered landscape architect (20+ years) in Houston, Austin and San Francisco.

A Texas A&M University cum laude alum (BS Landscape Architecture & BS Horticulture), I am third in the first generation of my family to earn a university degree. I can also be described as the great-grandson of Texas pioneers, grandson of Texas subsistence farmers, and (ashamedly) a “city-slicker“ (as my recently departed, dear ole dad would say), seeing how I was born and reared in Houston, post-war (WWII - the “big” one) on the blue-collar, industrial, east side.

Baptized and confirmed in LCMS, I first wondered about eastern Christianity in the 70s when I came upon a National Geographic photo of a young girl lighting a candle before an icon in “Great Religions of the World”, a book I had purchased for extra reading in my architectural history class. A classmate informed me of the Greek Festival in Houston, but I never managed to attend. The first Orthodox temple I set foot in was the Cathedral of the Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, in 1992 (possibly during Nativity Lent), wherein lay the relics of St. John Maximovich, whom I also count as patron. It took eight more years of spiritual seeking for me to “find” (or be found by) Ancient Faith.

Interest in genealogy and my family‘s cultural heritage has deepened my appreciation of Christianity. While the apostle St. Pavlos is my personal patron, my family patron is St. Boniface of Crediton. An avid reader and practitioner of the prayer of the heart (I don't go out much - nearest Liturgy is 85-100 miles away), my favorite books include the ”Prologue From Ochrid” by Bishop Nikolai Velimirovic, and ”The Southern Landscape Tradition in Texas” by John Brinkerhoff Jackson.

Other interests include:
history, historical preservation, cultural geography, cooperatives, intentional community, sustainable living, co-housing, voluntary simplicity, fair trade, agrarianism, alternative energy, off-grid homesteading, homeschooling, nature study, hiking, gardening, ethno-botany, whole food, and animal husbandry (especially goats).

But my greatest interest is in synthesizing all these interests toward development of a distinctly contemporary Christian lifestyle and culture, inspired by “sobornopravanist” – the local agrarian community as the center of Church life as manifestated on The Holy Mountain, in Old Russia and during the middle ages in Western Europe.

The Orthodox Peace Fellowship of the Protection of the Mother of God is an organization dedicated to the active pursuit of peace as taught in the Gospel of Jesus Christ from an Orthodox Christian perspective. The OPF is pan-Orthodox in scope and places great emphasis on peacemaking in all areas of life, including opposition to abortion, pro-active work among the needy and orphans, as well as praying and working to root out the causes of violence in homes, parishes, between states and in the world.

Unlike similar peace fellowships of other religious traditions, the OPF is a non-political and non-partisan organization. Instead their work centers in three main areas: theological research, publications, and practical assistance in conflict areas. They produce a quarterly journal entitled In Communion.
The Fellowship is pan-Orthodox and describes itself as “proclaiming the ecological mission of the Orthodox Church as the Reconciliation of All Things in Christ”.

The ministry of the OFT focuses on bringing the cosmology of Orthodox Christian theology to relevance in modern life, and its outreach extends to any interested Orthodox parish, group or person. Program development and outreach are ongoing, and feedback is welcomed.

The office of OFT is located in Santa Rosa, California, and houses an extensive library of Orthodox creation related resources for sharing of information. To date, the OFT has published newsletters, organized “Christ in the Wilderness” program events in Washington, California, Massachusetts and New York, developed a follow-up correspondence course on “The Virtues & Ecological Practice”, and initiated an “Orthodox Climate Initiative”.

The organization is overseen by a nine member Steering Committee that includes Fr. Dr. John Chryssavgis and is aided by an eight member Advisory Board that includes HE Metropolitan Nicholas of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church and HG Bishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

From the OFT mission statement:
“The Orthodox Fellowship of the Transfiguration exists to hallow God's Name 'on earth as it is in heaven' by seeking the transfiguration of creation through the activation of the Christian calling toward transfigured life. In the context of the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church, the Fellowship seeks to extend the transfiguring activity of the sacraments into all creation through ascetic practice, the keeping of the commandments
and the acquisition of virtue, thus restoring the beauty and integrity of God's earthly temple.”

My name is D Stall, and I live (semi-eremitical) on my family's 50 acre spread in rural southeast Central Texas. From there, I freelance as a webdesigner/developer, and design and maintain the website of The Orthodox Fellowship of the Transfiguration, among others. Previously, I worked as a registered landscape architect (20+ years) in Houston, Austin and San Francisco.

A Texas A&M University cum laude alum (BS Landscape Architecture & BS Horticulture), I am third in the first generation of my family to earn a degree. I can also be described as the great-grandson of Texas pioneers, grandson of Texas subsistence farmers, and (shamefully) a “city-slicker“ (as my dearly, recently departed dad would say), seeing how I was born and reared in Houston, post-war (WWII - the “big” one) on the blue-collar, industrial east side.

Baptized and confirmed in LCMS, I first wondered about Orthodoxy in the 70s when I came upon a National Geographic photo of a young girl lighting a candle before an icon in “Great Religions of the World”, a book I had purchased for extra reading in my architectural history class. A classmate informed me of the Greek Festival in Houston, but I never managed to attend. The first Orthodox temple I set foot in was the Cathedral of the Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, in 1992 (possibly during Nativity Lent). It took eight more years of spiritual seeking for me to “find” (or be found by) the Orthodox Church.

Interest in my genealogy and cultural heritage has deepened my appreciation of Orthodox Christianity. While the apostle St. Pavlos is my personal patron, my family patron is St. Boniface of Crediton. An avid reader and practitioner of the prayer of the heart (I don't go out much, especially the 85-100 miles to attend nearest Liturgy), my favorite books include the ”Prologue From Ochrid” by Bishop Nikolai Velimirovic, and ”The Southern Landscape Tradition in Texas” by John Brinkerhoff Jackson.

Other interests include:
history, historical preservation, cultural geography, intentional community, sustainable living, cohousing, voluntary simplicity, fair trade, agrarianism, alternative energy, off-grid homesteading, homeschooling, nature study, hiking, gardening, ethno-botany, whole food, and animal husbandry (especially goats).

But my greatest interest is in synthesizing all these interests toward development of a distinctly contemporary Orthodox Christian lifestyle and culture, inspired by “sobornopravanist” – the local agrarian community as the center of Orthodox church life as manifestated on The Holy Mountain, in Old Russia and during the middle ages in Western Europe.

Other interests include:
history, historical preservation, cultural geography, intentional community, sustainable living, cohousing, voluntary simplicity, fair trade, agrarianism, alternative energy, off-grid homesteading, homeschooling, nature study, hiking, gardening, ethno-botany, ayurvedic & health food, animal husbandry (especially goats).

But my greatest interest is in synthesizing all these interests toward development of a distinctly modern Orthodox Christian lifestyle and “new world” culture, inspired by “sobornopravanist” – the local agrarian community as the center of Orthodox church life as manifestated on Mt.Athos, in Old Russia and during the middle ages in Western Europe.
OFT exists to hallow God's Name 'on earth as it is in heaven' by seeking the transfiguration of creation through the activation of the Christian calling toward transfigured life. In the context of the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church, the Fellowship seeks to extend the transfiguring activity of the sacraments into all creation through ascetic practice, the keeping of the commandments
The office of OFT is located in Santa Rosa, California, where the Executive Director, Fred Krueger, maintains an extensive library of creation related resources, and administers program development and educational communication with OFT members. To date, OFT has published newsletters, organized Christ in the Wilderness program events in Washington, California, Massachusetts and New York, a follow-up correspondence course on The Virtues & Ecological Practice, and an Orthodox Climate Initiative.

The Orthodox Fellowship of the Transfiguration (OFT) proclaims the ecological mission of the Orthodox Church as . . . the Reconciliation of All Things in Christ!

OFT exists to hallow God's Name 'on earth as it is in heaven' by seeking the transfiguration of creation through the activation of the Christian calling toward transfigured life. In the context of the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church, the Fellowship seeks to extend the transfiguring activity of the sacraments into all creation through ascetic practice, the keeping of the commandments
and the acquisition of virtue, thus restoring the beauty and integrity of God's earthly temple.

OFT became a SCOBA endorsed organization in 2006. It is a pan-Orthodox effort overseen by a nine member Steering Committee and aided by an eight member Advisory Board.

The office of OFT is located in Santa Rosa, California, where Executive Director Fred Krueger maintains an extensive library of creation related resources, and administers program development and educational communication with OFT members. To date, OFT has published newsletters, organized Christ in the Wilderness program events in Washington, California, Massachusetts and New York, a follow-up correspondence course on The Virtues & Ecological Practice, and an Orthodox Climate Initiative.

Articles, other information, publications for sale, email contact and mailing address are accessible online at http://Orth-Transfiguration.org There is also a Community Forum which anyone can access after registering, where OFT Members can communicate with each other via a Members private group.
