In mid nineteenth century the Orthodox Christian Church brought the Gospel of Christ to the nation of Japan. Over the next fifty years this Gospel became firmly rooted in the Japanese soul so that it withstood the trials and tribulations of the first half of the twentieth century, to become a firm indigenous witness as an autonomous church.
